There is a wedding in the village today - Donna and John.

Donna is very much a village girl with her parents, grandmother and several other family members living here. She was baptised in the church and was a member of the Sunday school taking the roles of both Mary and Gabriel in the nativity play in different years, and her mother and grandmother always do arrangements for Harvest Festival and other special occasions. So we decided to do the flowers in the church (under Grandma's direction) for the wedding as a present from the congregation.

The colours were peach and cream, and it fell to my lot to decorate the window sill behind the altar. The rain siled down all day yesterday and I was soaked to the skin when I came in from the garden from gathering foliage. It had rained most of Thursday too, and it was grey and showery this morning. The wedding was scheduled for one o'clock: it started to brighten up around noon, and we now have (at half-past-one) bright sunshine. (Later note: the sunshine continued until 2.30 when the heavens opened again, but by that time the wedding party had left for the reception)

Joe was at the church doing the verger's job, but sadly the photos he took are absolute rubbish! He put my (generally foolproof) camera on the wrong setting, took subjects with the light behind them and put a greasy/sweaty finger mark on the lens. These are the least bad of his efforts.
